Jersey Does it Again.

Posted on January 28,2010

A few days earlier, MTV's Jersey Shore had it's season finale. Most people thought all hope was over. The winter had finally set in with a flat spell and freezing weather. The weeks just wouldn't be the same without the entertainment of fat blacked out guidettes and roid ragers. But as soon as everyone in the Northeast was about to give up, a blurp on the map had made this swell a "Situation." Monday night the buoys were reading over 8ft at 10 seconds out of the SSE, the winds were predicted to be offshore all day in Jersey. As a regular footer living in New York, Jersey sometimes feels like paradise with all of the reeling rights that come through with swells from the South. I've had some of the best waves of my life in Jersey, and just couldn't pass this one by. Late Monday night I called into work, and left for New Jersey at 4:30am.
All day we were served up with pumping overhead rights. The first two sessions were a bit crowded, which can be expected after a month of flatness, but towards the end of the day, I paddled in at a spot by myself. After a few waves I was joined by 3 other guys, swapping off some sick rights off a jetty in Northern Jersey. In between sessions I was able to grab a few shots and some video, which maybe I'll post up sometime this weekend. Overall an awesome day off from work. 10 hours of awesome lighting, perfectly groomed waves, good weather (for January), and plenty of tubes on tap for anyone out. I was going to fist pump all the way back to New York, but my arms felt like noodles after 3 sessions,oh well. Thanks for Checking in and lets hope for some more waves soon.
